This was a very interesting project. Our clients had taken possession of a listed office building in Glasgow city centre which was to be refurbished and converted into premier, very exclusive office accommodation for themselves and others.
The constraints on what they were able to do to the interiors was quite extensive and the decoration had to be sympathetic to the building whilst projecting the highest spec. for dynamic top end office space.
The very traditional fireplaces and immaculate wood panelling had all to stay in place along with the feature wrought iron banisters to the central staircase.
The reception and staircase were fitted with a high quality commercial carpet in a very traditional design but contemporary colour pallet which will last and take heavy foot traffic as there are no elevators in the building. It was fitted with reclaimed brass stair rods and heavy duty underlay.
The offices floors however had to project a professional contemporary feel sympathetically contrasting to the very traditional wooden wall panelling and ornate ceilings. They were fitted with carpet tiles in subtle stripes, contrasting border work and featured waiting areas. All were fitted using special adhesives to avoid excess damage to the original wooden parquet flooring which was left as a feature border in all areas.
The bathrooms were fitted with Amtico flooring in contemporary stones.
A lot of time was spent with the clients and various samples produced to work within a commercial budget that whilst generous did not become ridiculous. Fitting was completed within the build terms and successfully handed to client within schedule.
